Abstract:With the development of active phased array radars and unmanned aerial vehicle-borne reconnaissance radars to
higher frequencies, there is a clear application demand for miniaturized W-band traveling wave tubes. In this paper, the miniaturization
of W-band TWT is mainly studied. Low voltage and high current are adopted to increase the gain parameter in the design.
The folded slow wave structure with higher coupled impedance and the phase velocity step-tapering technology are used to improve
the electronic efficiency. At the same time, the component structure design is carried out to realize the miniaturization of the TWT.Based on the above methods, the W-band TWT with lower voltage 12. 8 kV and 252×50×42 mm3 volume wasdesigned. The measured results show that the output power is above 100 W at 89 GHz~100 GHz. A four-stage collector is used to improve the total efficiency, 30% is achieved at 90 GHz~99 GHz. |
